AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile oils - known as essential oils - extracted from plants in a variety of ways, to treat the person as a whole and not just the symptoms. Oils can be combined to form a synergy, where the mix of the oils are more effective than the oils used individually. Aromatherapy helps the body to re-balance, regulate it's systems and stimulates healing.
Aromatherapy oils enter the blood stream via the skin and the olfactory system (nose) and travel through the body to where they are most effective. The oils are highly concentrated, so only a small amount is needed and only very good quality oils should be used at all times. Aromatherapy oils can be used in the treatment for a very wide variety of ailments and are especially beneficial for releiving stress, promoting relaxation, uplifting and balancing mood and general wellbeing. Most oils stimulate the body's natural healing systems which generally leads to an improved functioning of the immune system. An individual blend will be made up according to your medical history and current state to address any symptoms and improve wellbeing.
Our sense of smell is our most emotive and evocative sense and an Aromatherapy massage is a wonderfully calming and soothing experience, one that will leave you deeply relaxed and feeling more balanced. The massage techniques generally used in aromatherapy massage are usually very gentle and relaxing, with the emphasis on relaxing, warming and soothing the muscles. However, an aromatherapy blend can also be used for deep tissue work and hot stone massage.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
When we are constantly stressed, tense or have a chronic condition, our muscles and tissues form solid bands of tension, adhesions and muscle spasm which can be painful and uncomfortable, causing headaches, stiffness and backache and in severe cases, migraine. Often just sitting at a desk all day with bad posture is enough to give you very tight achy shoulders and a headache.
Using mainly the elbows, palms of hands and forearm techniques, Deep Tissue Massage works below the superficial muscles to the deeper muscles, tissues and ligaments and relieves those tight bands and knots, effectively eliminating adhesions and muscle spasm. Deep Tissue massage is extremely good for releasing muscle spasm, treating deep aches and pains and effective stimulation of circulation. It is a very slow with deep pressure treatment which can provide immense relief and muscle release.
Holistic Massage is based on Swedish Massage techniques but is conceptually different in that is takes into account all aspects of the a person's life - lifestyle, diet, work environment, relationships, emotional state, etc - and tailors the treatment and comprehensive aftercare to the individual.
Massage is extremely beneficial on all levels. Physically, it improves circulation and thus removes impurities and toxins more effectively, improves oxygenation of the blood and assists in nutrient distribution. It helps improve muscle tone, reduce cellulite and reduce tension and tight muscles.
Touch is essential to a person's well being and massage helps to relax, calm, de-stress and soothe the person receiving the treatment. It is also essential to have time out and space for yourself and a massage treatment helps you do just that!

A deeply relaxing massage using hot and cold basalt and marble stones to ease away muscle tension and tightness in a luxury treatment. The alternating hot and cold strokes work to renew oxygenation, improve circulation and encourage muscles to lengthen and release. This is the ultimate in luxury treatments!
Reflexology is based on the concept that areas on the foot, ankles and hands correspond to organs and systems within the body. There are lines of energy called meridians which connect and balance the flow of chi or life force which also connect the organs and systems which can sometimes become unbalanced because of our diets, lifestyle or emotions, causing a disruption in the natural flow. Reflexology works on the basis that stimulating particular corresponding areas will help release energy blockages and bring the body back to equilibrium and balance and correct the flow of energy once again.
This technique has been proven to improve and stimulate fertility although the reasons why are not fully known. Often clients are unsure of someone touching their feet but Reflexology is extremely relaxing and effective and clients often drift off to sleep or report feeling energised after a treatment.

REIKI
'Rei' translates as Universal and 'ki' translates as energy. Put simply, Reiki is the Universal life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki is an ancient Tibetan healing method that was rediscovered in the late 19th century by a Japanese monk, named Dr Mikao Usui.
What to expect when having a Reiki treatment? After being introduced to the therapist doing your treatment, you will be asked into a treatment room. You will be asked to fill in a consent form which will include some details about yourself, your medical history and your contact details. If appropriate, you will be asked the reason that you are seeking treatment. All this will help the therapist gain some insight into your needs and the best way to fullfill them.
REIKI IDEALS
~*Just for today I will not anger *~
~*Just for today I will honour and love all living things*~
~*Just for today I will do all things with integrity *~
~*Just for today I will be grateful for all my blessings *~
THERMAL- AURICULAR THERAPY
Based on a technique originally used by the Hopi Native American Indians, this soothing and relaxing session helps to clear blocked ears, headaches and sinus problems.
The therapy usesa natural bees wax candle combined with herbs inserted gently into the ear. The heat causes a vacuum effect which softens waxy buildups, balances the pressure in the ear canal and helps to drain the sinuses. The effect also vibrates the ear drum very slightly, allowing you to relax and drift off to the sound of ocean waves. The herbs reduce inflammation and stimulate healing. Clients often feel nervous about this treatment, thinking that some wax or ash will fall into their ears or that it will hurt, however, the candle has a filter at the base which does not allow any wax or ash near the ear and therapists are trained to ensure there is no chance of the client getting hurt. After treatment, clients report feeling unbelievably relaxed and calm and often report instant effects of clear sinuses and better breathing.

Please note that complementary therapies should not be used as an alternative for medial treatment. Should you have a condition that requires medical supervision or regular check ups, please ask your GP or consultant to provide a referral letter of consent.
A compulsory full consultation will be taken before all treatments to ensure that the client is fit and well enough to receive treatment. This is essential, not only for insurance purposes, but because therapies may have a profound effect on circulation, medication and emotional state. There are a number of conditions that restrict treatment and I reserve the right to decline to treat clients based on medical information. If you are concerned about a condition you may have that may restrict treatment, please contact me and we can discuss what would be most suitable in your circumstances.
Please be aware that all the therapies listed above have a cumulative effect, so often 2-3 regular treatments would be more beneficial and often are essential in the case of some therapies like Reflexology.
